IMPACT

Positively impacting the lives and potential of our Littles and our families is our primary objective. We are proud of the improvements mentoring makes in a Little’s life, and our confidence in the strength and uniqueness of our programming comes from a proven research, our decades-long embeddedness in the community, and the personal experiences of our youth. We are proud of our results in 2022:

  • 99% of youth served were promoted to the next grade
  • Hispanic and Black youth are three times more likely than White youth to have repeated a grade of primary school, which research indicates leads to greater likelihood of dropping out, poor social adjustment, and more behavior problems (Child Trends).

  • 94% of 12th grade youth served graduated high school within 5 years
  • In 2018, Black and Hispanic students in NYC graduated from high school at a rate of 72.1% and 70% respectively, compared to 84.2% among White students. (Chalkbeat Education News).

  • 94% of high school students graduates entered a college or a training program.
  • In 2017, college enrollment rates for Black and Hispanic students was 53.1% and 51.2%, respectively, compared to 8% for White students and 77.4% for Asian students. (NYU Steinhardt).

  • 98% of youth served avoided early parenting and substance abuse.
  • Each year, 17,000 NYC youth between ages 15-19 become pregnant. (Citizens Committee for Children).

  • 97% of youth show increased self-confidence

  • 97% of parents increased self-efficacy
